New setup dashboard: first-week results

More new users set up on day one: completions rose about a third on every comparable step. The trade: recommended-card clicks fell 41%. Conversion is not readable yet.

Released Monday 6 July, 7pm NZT · full deploy, no flag, no holdout · weekday signup cohorts, 24-hour windows · before n = 1,212 (16 June to 3 July), after n = 296 (7 to 10 July)

More users complete setup on day one

Zero-step users fell from 51% to 43%. The gain lands at 2 and 3 steps.

Attention moved from the cards to the checklist

Setup and payment intent won. Cards lost. Downstream outcomes held.

Teammate row counts each design's own invite actions: staff records before the 2 July invite revamp; invitations, direct adds and invite links after. The checklist's team step is not comparable across designs, so it is not shown.

Watch 7-day AI-notes adoption: the AI Scribe card is its top discovery path.

Top 2 cards take 4 in 10 clicks. The bottom 4 earn about 3 clicks a day across all users: show them only when relevant.

All-user clicks, 6 to 13 July. Story card excluded: tracked only from 13 July (1 click so far).

Mobile nearly closes the activation gap

Mobile is 21% of signups in both periods. After-release mobile is only 60 people: treat as directional.

  • The old dashboard's mobile penalty on client creation (19% vs 27% desktop) nearly closes (28% vs 30%). Borderline at n = 60, z 1.9.
  • The card decline is worst on mobile: 28% to 10%, z 3.1. The step panel likely pushes the carousel below the fold on phones.

Too early to call conversion

0.6% of release-week signups subscribed within 72 hours, against a June average of 2.4%. Not readable as a design effect:

  • The June peak was promo-inflated: 9 of its 21 fast subs used $1 or July 4 codes. No promo ran after release.
  • The metric swings 0.58% to 4.24% week to week under the old design.
  • 2 subscribers after release. Upgrade-modal exposure unchanged: 14% vs 15%.

First honest reads: 7-day Stripe connections from 14 July, 14-day subscriptions on 20 July.

Tracking changes and caveats

2 July
Team-invite revamp, separate from the dashboard. Staff creation moved to invite acceptance; 'create staff' halved from this date.
6 July
V3 live for new signups and unfinished existing accounts. New per-step skip event. Completions are real user actions in both periods, verified against account-creation timing.
12 July
Richer tracking: checklist clicks, import source, per-step buttons.
13 July
Learn-the-basics, chat, story-card and testimonial events live. Book-a-call tile still emits nothing.
  • The old 'get started' PostHog dashboard (904713) now over-reads: feature completions rose about 5 times for mechanical reasons.
  • Any metric counting the team step as a completion shows a false decline.
  • No holdout: this is before-and-after, not a controlled test. Regional mix was stable (72 to 77% Americas both periods).
